20 Weeks!

Corinne is now 20 weeks pregnant; half way there!
You can't see it here, but her bellybutton is just starting to think about popping.
Corinne has been feeling movement for some time now, and I've just started to be able to feel it from the outside.  I bought a stethoscope with the hope that I could hear a heartbeat or other baby noises, but for now our little one is staying quiet.

It's a...

We'll get to that in a minute! First, here's an image of Baby McD-D at 19 weeks:

Now let's talk about what Baby McD-D has been making me crave:
  1. Indian food - particularly Aloo Mutter (Potatoes and peas in a yummy sauce over rice with nan) and veggie samosas (also potatoes and peas with some other delicious spices and stuff - fried in a delicious, heavenly triangular shape)
  2. McIntosh apples
  3. Baba ganoush (From Wikipedia: Eggplant is baked or broiled over an open flame before peeling, so that the pulp is soft and has a smoky taste. Tahini, olive oil, lemon and parsley are blended in. Often, it is eaten as a dip with pita bread, and is sometimes added to other dishes.
  4. Strawberry cupcakes with rainbow chip frosting
 There is no consistency there...

Bored yet?

Fine. I'll tell you.

We can change the name to Baby Girl McD-D!

Most people had a feeling that she was a girl - I had absolutely no idea. Jesse is absolutely thrilled; he really wanted a girl. Now it will be three girls against one in our house (me, Cheeba, baby vs. Jesse). My dad is happy that someone will be able to empathize with what he endured for many years :)

I've been around a lot of baby boys in my life -- not so many baby girls. I have to admit I'm a little bit nervous!

Some folks have been asking about her name. I hate to disappoint everyone but we're going to keep her name to ourselves until after she's born. We're stealing that trick from Jesse's sister - it was hard to endure but I saw how much better it was in the end!

Have I missed anything? Do you have any questions? The comments are open!

Baby Movement

Baby McD-D has really started moving these past couple of days! Well, I know from the ultrasounds that s/he has always been quite the mover, but with the ossification and growth that's recently taken place I'm finally able to feel it. It's different than any sensation I've felt before. I guess it is most similar to a muscle twitch you might get in your leg - but much slower.

Whenever it starts I stop and focus on it so I can savor it as much as possible. Pregnancy is so fleeting that I want to store all of these cool moments in my memory banks. I know that if we are lucky enough to get pregnant again it will be a completely different experience. We won't have as much time (or energy) to enjoy these moments - or blog about them :)
